fabulous blues pairing

..then this...

Who does a listener prefer?

This is dialogue happening in America.

The commentary, below, on this article is superbly strange.

wow.  what a fascinating riff(t) between the peoples, here.  Shows how much "reality" creation is alive and functioning in the hearts and minds of people.

Good old Americana, slathered with a talented voice and nice understated backup

The next Joni Mitchell type.  The sound is there; but who will listen and give them greatness?

why India's politics is so fascinating.

India has about a kerxzgillion people, and.. in it's own unique way, it is a democracy.  And it is a major territory in Asia, which has it's own clout on the rise, most unmistakably.

Why NOT deny the bar is going dry while you still got a little bit to drink? Hmm?

Desk Flip Rage Guy - climate dischangers deny deny deny!

Well, this

http://nca2014.globalchange.gov/report

pissed some folks off.

And will continue to:  as we see; - as they see- and the (I call them) dischangers will hark for more data until we're all up to our tits in the disdainful things that this climate change dealy has started to enact on our behaviors, which are informed by the perceptions and choices of our daily lives.. and therefore our attitudes, as our attitudes inform our behaviors.  And when our perceptions and our behaviors match, we are completely ignorant in the static of as-is, just-so, no worries.  But when something can change to spark a difference between the ratio of our perceptions and behaviors, then we start to notice, because we have no other choice.  Then we start to make new choices.

the aspect of future weather* of this world continuing, in it's fashion, lies for some concerned folks somewhere in the realm between

"not so even".
and
"shit fucking bonkers".**

The more keep-it-calm people would like to see the weather be as placid as a PSA for lawn safety.

Meanwhile the weather (read: atmospheric air movement, and its current resultants) is moving more and more like a subject hooked to electrodes***.  The information is actually out there for people to make informed opines for themselves regarding how this whole weather thing could smash.  But, in forecasting the analysis, turbulence suggests a forecast of MORE TURBULENCE. unless and until a signifigant room in the atmospheric analysis yields that all of this strange weather will cease and desist simply because we would do dander like:

-buy less gasoline.
-Or kiss our coal plant on the way to work every day.  / And then kill it.
-Or thank our stars that we don't have to pour our shit out in the streets every day.
-Or don't take our daughters to McDumYums.
-Click the heels and wish it all away-a.

..Take a drop of poison, and stir it up in a beaker... does not all of the fluid in the beaker become entrained with the drop of poison?  Whatever the interrant chemicals in that jar can bond to regarding that poison, they will do with precision.  And so will go the world.  And so will go the world;

We can't "fix" this.  But I hope to All we can

*"weather" meaning not long-term or even on a yearly term, but what is happening right NOW.
** a term OK-d by way lefties, and weather nerds (for the some part)
*** and what ARE those "electrodes"?

[PS- the language in this is strange, but I write strange concsiously, and creatively, because sometimes weird gets the attention.  And besides, it's more fun than academia.]

this made me punch the "awesome" button

Above:  a Humboldt squid eye lookin' right back atcha

I like to know we're somehow in relationship to cephalopods.  Like us, they're (squids and octopi) clever.  Unlike us, they're usually not dicks about it.

ants for brains? if ants had any; but they have the colony, and that's what makes them tic so amazing.

Combining the fascinating studies of both swarm intelligence and neuroscience (ants 'n brains) this article is a tasty cookie to bite:

Who is our Jimi Hendrix nowdays?

This cat takes very simple tunes and puts them in some kind of alien atmosphere.  He learned the rules, and then broke them.  Like a China plate.  At 1:36  in, he gets the mojo.  And after some minutes, so does Mitch.

Octopi have arms, not "tentacles"

A group I fell for a while back.. admittedly because they had the word "Octopus" in their name.  Like skillions of bands from Austin, TX, most haven't heard of these peeps, either.

At first, a simple jangly pop tune.  But upon closer listens, something a little more intricate is going on.  And the graphics - cut out paper, animated - give the thing a nice homemade surreal zing.

Watch climate change it's diapers.

from e:mail to a friend:..

"(from  http://wattsupwiththat.com/2014/04/02/the-big-list-of-failed-climate-predictions/ ) “We are now at the threshold of making reliable [climate] statements about the future.”
Daniela Jacob, Max Planck Institute for Meteorology, Hamburg, page 44, 10/2001

...Now this seems to be more of a truism than many other thoughts out there.  Are global average/median temperatures on many scales including warmth, Arctic sea ice melt, glacial/ice thickness and sea suface temperatures slowly trending GLOBALY in a certain direction?  Yes.

But it was real fucking cold in Minnesota this winter.  Brutal.  The Great lakes even froze!.. just like they used to damn near EVERY other or third winter.  ..meanwhile, large chunks of Alaska had record warmth for a good portion of the winter.

What concerns me is  not the overall warming of the planet (do an independent analysis on records instead of having some media tell you what is what) or freezing of the Great Lakes, or record hurricanes, or super few tornadoes this year (so far) in the US, but the day-to-day, month-to-month, this season vs. next season data.

Last winter season and before brought record cold to AK.  This winter brought record warmth to some regions (and AK is so big it has regions)

Here in Cali?  Record cold in early Dec followed by record highs, dominated by a summer weather pattern for Califorina.   Also, one of the driest calendar years on record.

Next winter?  A good possibility of record WET weather.  The plot sickens.

You understand, I am so happy to hear, phase changes in states of materials and systems.  Climate, to me, is undergoing a phase change, where chaos rules.  Things have a 50/50 chance of going hither or thither in the weather department.

If it is +10 degrees above average this winter for a given locale, and -10 the next winter, what is the average over 2 years going to be?  NORMAL.  This is simple math that anyone can achieve.

I'm not with you; I'm not against you.  But when we're running August normal temps in late Jan while the east of the US is getting belted with waves of record cold not seen in 20 years... something is not average here.

More people than not - both warmists and deniers - are looking at the wrong metrics.

Where to look?  no more than month-to-month comparisons with historical records.  So it falls in between climate (three decades) and weather (current conditions).

The devil has us on his tail, and there will be much weeping and gnashing of teeth in years to come."
